Our Mission Statement

The Academy of Civics and Technology (ACT) aims to serve high school foster youth and displaced youth of San Bernardino County by providing an innovative learning environment designed to promote the natural maturity and leadership qualities of young women and men who currently or have lived in a foster care situation. ACT runs on the philosophy that strength and leadership can grow from hardship. We believe that all young people can succeed academically at extremely high standards. We promote various learning styles through our hybrid online and small group-tutoring model. Each student will receive individualized education that allows growth at the appropriate level and speed for their academic goals. Our focus is to provide rigorous quality vocational training, college preparation, and life skills in order to allow all students the opportunity to gain the confidence and independence needed to be successful in any life path they choose before adulthood. By building partnerships with educators, mentors, businesses, and organizations, ACT aims to create a unique community for foster youth that will provide a smooth transition into adulthood.
